WELCOME to

If you’re here, you probably saw one of our stickers at a rock show somewhere in the Triangle.  If so, welcome!  We’re here to help you discover the awesome music that’s happening right in your backyard, right here in North Carolina (and especially the Triangle).

We started this site because we believe that becoming involved in local music is a conscious choice, one which can change the way that you perceive music as a whole. Have you ever read about the legendary music scenes of the past (like the the CBGB club in the late 1970’s or Seattle in the late 80’s) and wished that you could’ve been there?  It seems that our whole generation is looking back, wishing that they could’ve been a part of something like that…  something much bigger than themselves, something that had a greater meaning.

Well, we’re here to offer you a choice.  Right now, you live within one of the most vibrant, diverse musical communities in the world.  If you put your mind to it, you can find anything from jazz fusion to Springsteen-infused punk to epic rock orchestras to underground hip-hop.  Amazing, life-changing things are happening right here, right now, and by listening to local music, you can become a part of it.

To get started, check out the ReverbNation music player over in the sidebar.  We’ve filled it up with a sampling of some of the groups that call the Triangle their home.  If you like what you hear, check out their artist page or come out to one of their shows.  To aid you in your showgoing endeavors, we’ve included a show roster maintained by Ross Grady, one of the most knowledgeable aficionados of Triangle music around, below the player.

Check out the links in our blogroll too; they’ll point you to some helpful resources, such as the local radio stations and newspapers that play and promote local music.  Finally, if you’d like to find more information on local music in general, subscribe to our General discussion list and check out alt.music.chapel-hill, a USENET discussion group dedicated to this stuff.

This site is still under construction at the moment, but over the next few months we’ll be transforming it into the definitive music portal for the North Carolina Triangle region.  Keep an eye out; cool things are afoot here.
